Door Harps The Scandinavian tradition of the door harp is that it mounts on the inside of your door. When your door closes the gentle sound welcomes you, your family and your friends into your home. Door harps have been popular for centuries in European countries. Our door harps come individually boxed with a screw for mounting (good for a wood or metal door), instructions and a lifetime guarantee. The Door Harp measures approximately 10-1/2" long and 9" wide, in the traditional shape. We use only premium zither pins and music wire to assure you of a quality sound. Adjusting the tension on the music wire can change the sound. For your convenience, instructions and a tuning wrench are included. The Swedish Door Harp Story (A Swedish Door Harp story card is included with each item.) About 700 years ago the Swedish Door Harp was born out of an encounter with eh Chinese. The Chinese practiced the art of Feng Shui using chimes around door, windows and openings for the use of moving energy (good in and bad out). The Swedish adopted the idea but modified the design to use strings and beads for sound with the purpose to repel evil spirits. Now these have become a Northern European tradition that has evolved to mean welcome, good luck, good health and prosperity to all that pass through your door.
